We need your help...again! :)

Due to the overwhelmingly awesome response that we have gotten from our contest, we have observed that all of you are just as excited about unique knitting/spinning items as we are! Because of this, we thought we would come back and ask for your help again (this may not be the last time, lol). If you know of an independent pattern designer, someone who makes handmade buttons, drop spindles, baskets, anything fiber related...we would like to give every small business, no matter how small, an opportunity to sell their product in a storefront. The time to order is almost upon us now that our store is coming together physically. We have contacted the big fiber vendors already, but in doing that we have realized how much the small business person gets lost in the shuffle. So, before we order from the big companies, we would love to give all you indie suppliers out there the first chance. Bear in mind, however, that we are on a budget for our first orders and probably for awhile until we get ourselves established, so we really need competetive wholesale pricing. Here are the things that we are looking for, so if you know of someone or if you can fill this need yourself, please leave us a comment!

Unique buttons
Knitting patterns of all kinds
Crochet patterns of all kinds
Unique purse handles
Sock blockers
Spinning/felting fiber
Knitting/crochet jewelry
Knitting bags
Buttons (badges)
Coffees & Teas
Pottery
Baskets
Anything else that you can think of that I haven't listed here :)

Thank you in advance for your help on this. If you know of anyone who specializes in these areas, please send them our way!

I remembered somebody that made fimo buttons for her cardigan before. I emailed her and send her your blog address. Maybe I need to try my luck with stitch markers?

My LYS sells my beaded stitch markers on consignment....I see you have knitting/crochet jewelry listed, just thought you might like to know how some other people do it. I'm not from your parts, but if you could find someone who makes these locally...if not, I'd be glad to help!

So excited to see your progress!

Dear Enchanted Goddesses,
I make handmade ceramic buttons, stitch markers, decorative scissors tips and scissors/badge reels.
I think it's great that you would like to have indie artists in your new store.
I will be at the TNNA show in June. Of course you may order at anytime.
Have a great day!

Hand-dyed yarns in yummy rock 'n roll colors at http://stitchjones.com. Sharon is great and just getting started herself with her wholesale business. Her yarns are awesome.

Chrissy at Gardiner Yarn Works (http://gardineryarnworks.com) has great patterns. She was at TNNA and got a good kick-start to her wholesale business. Her patterns are well-written, fun to knit, and very wearable. They've been in lots of publications, too, so folks might be familiar with them.

Sheila and Michael Ernst make beautiful glass buttons, glass knitting needles, and glass spindles. Check them out at www.glasspens.com . I'll get in touch with SHeila to have her check you up.

Great luck to you with your venture!

I make beaded stitch markers, and a few of my favorite fiber sellers on etsy are:

Allspunup, Loop

Weeones makes some really cute markers too

If you're looking for drop spindles (are you carrying spinning supplies?) then I highly recommend Jenkins Woodworking. It's a husband, wife team in small town Oregon. I have two of their turkish drop spindles and LOVE them!

Wondering if an etsy visit might be helpful in finding some suppliers.

Also, I'd like to encourage you to consider free trade coffee and tea.

Hi! Congrats on the new store! I am in the process of setting up my own small biz selling knitted notions. I make knitted swatch charms which I have added o-rings for cell phone charms or jumprings for stitch markers. I have also considered adding a clasp to the charms so they could be added to charm bracelets. I also make larger swatch keyrings, beaded rings, androw counter bracelets. i make but have not offered for sale yet: small project bags, knitters buckets, quilted purses, and craft aprons. I have pics of the small items on my blog: http://roavings.blogspot.com.
Thanks!

I have some lovely cushions?! Actually, I am hoping that the cooperative I told you about is up and running soon and that my patterns are a part of it. I think it would be fabulous. In the meanwhile, I'm not really doing hard copies yet. (but I'll have a great book, published by Wiley, in early 2009...:)

I have to recommend Technospindles, (I think she is Technospindles.com). I have them and they are beautiful and spin very well. I took them as a test to our states fiber conference and they were very well received!
